Welcome to the University of California, Irvine Medical Scientist Training Program in beautiful Southern California!
Since our first students entered the program in 1980, the UCI MSTP has grown and flourished. Today, our students and associated faculty pursue research in fields such as stem cell biology, cancer biochemistry, epidemiology of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, human brain mapping, orthopedic biomechanics in sports injury, among others. Our associated graduate programs include biomedical engineering, environmental toxicology, developmental & cell biology, neurobiology & behavior, and many more.
The University of California, Irvine is among the top 50 institutions for NIH grant funding, and the UCI School of Medicine is ranked in the top 50 medical schools for research in the nation. UC Irvine Medical Center has consistently been listed as one of "America's Best Hospitals" by US News & World Report, and is home to the National Cancer Institute-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer center, an American College of Surgeons verified Orange County Level 1 trauma center, and the Joint Commission Gold-seal approved Stroke & Cerebrovascular center.
